    Description

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP), funds state and local efforts to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of juvenile justice systems. Projects should identify acute system challenges and redirect scarce resources toward actionable, measurable solutions that prevent and respond to crime, address cost drivers, and improve youth outcomes.

Potential focus areas include coordinated mental health and substance use treatment, data collection and case management improvements, court processing and operations, and services helping young adults transition into adulthood and the community. The program emphasizes resource allocation, aligned policies and practices, cross-agency data sharing and analysis, and ongoing assessment to ensure solutions are effective, efficient, and sustainable.
