Description
The Toyota Foundation’s Migrants and Japanese Society program funds cross-disciplinary teams working on the consequences of Japan’s growing acceptance of foreign talent. Projects may address environments that help foreign talent use their skills, unequal access to information, care and support systems, the attraction of skilled people from abroad, or lessons from Japanese companies’ overseas operations. Projects spanning multiple themes are welcome.
The program aims to clarify underlying problems while fostering responses, collaboration and platforms for action. It primarily supports projects combining investigation, research and practice, with work during the grant period to build mechanisms or systems that solve a problem or improve a situation. Projects focused chiefly on investigation and research may also be considered under the skilled-talent and overseas-operations themes, although practical activities receive priority.
