Description
The National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF), in collaboration with the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA), offers this Challenge Grant to help scientists establish or sustain research programs focused on pediatric alopecia areata. The partners aim to accelerate research that improves the lives of affected children, adolescents, and their families.
The program welcomes innovative research ideas addressing an autoimmune hair-loss disease that frequently begins before adulthood and has limited pediatric treatment options. Its interests span disease mechanisms, epidemiology, natural history, patient-reported outcomes, psychosocial burden, and treatment decision-making. Priority consideration goes to high-priority research questions, projects led by early-to-mid career investigators collaborating with senior mentors, and applications advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
