    Description

This grant opportunity from Cures Within Reach is designed to support underresourced researchers and clinicians based in low and lower-middle income countries (LMICs), as defined by the World Bank, to conduct clinical trials that repurpose existing therapies for unsolved diseases. The program aims to build local research capacity and improve patient outcomes by enabling LMIC researchers to test generic, off-patent, or indigenous therapies—already approved for human use—in new indications that are not yet standard of care. The initiative strongly encourages projects addressing high disease burdens, such as non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, maternal, neonatal, nutritional diseases, or injuries. All projects must include meaningful community engagement plans that go beyond patient recruitment, involving collaborations with community organizations, leaders, or patient groups.
