Description
This opportunity from Cures Within Reach funds clinical repurposing trials led by underresourced researchers and clinicians based in low and lower-middle income countries (LMICs), as defined by the World Bank. The program aims to build clinical research capacity in LMICs and accelerate the discovery of affordable, available treatments for unsolved diseases affecting these regions. Projects should utilize already-approved therapies (such as generic drugs, nutraceuticals, indigenous, or combination therapies) in new disease indications where there is unmet medical need.
A strong preference is given to trials targeting high-burden diseases (including both communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal, neonatal, nutritional diseases, or injuries). All projects must include plans for robust community engagement that go beyond patient involvement, involving community-based organizations, leaders, or groups.
