Description
The New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA) administers this program with funding from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service. It supports projects that enhance the competitiveness of New Jersey specialty crops in domestic or foreign markets. Covered crops include fruits and vegetables, grapes for wine, nuts, honey, herbs, potatoes, sweet corn, horticultural products such as Christmas trees, and algae.
Projects may promote specialty crops, assist producers with research and development, expand crop availability and access, or address challenges facing producers. NJDA encourages work on food safety, distribution-chain capacity, conservation and environmental outcomes, improved varieties, pest and disease control, nutrition and consumption, distribution efficiency, and sustainability.
