Description
The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Summer Undergraduate Fellowship Program provides a 10-week, in-person introduction to medical physics through laboratory research and clinical shadowing. Fellows select an approved mentor with a project at a university, research facility, hospital or clinical facility in the United States or Canada. Projects must include meaningful research; the fellowship is not a clinical practicum, and students should not perform clinical work.
The fellow and mentor agree on project expectations and summer dates between May and September. Supported by the AAPM Education & Research Fund and the Northwest AAPM Chapter, the program helps develop the next generation of medical physicists through hands-on experience and contact with professionals. Fellows are also invited to the 2027 AAPM Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio.
