The Stanford Next Asia Policy Lab (SNAPL), housed at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center and directed by Professor Gi-Wook Shin, offers two visiting fellowships beginning in fall quarter 2027. The program addresses emerging social, cultural, economic, and political challenges in Asia through interdisciplinary, problem-oriented, policy-relevant, and comparative research and publications.
Visiting fellows collaborate with postdoctoral fellows, affiliated Stanford faculty, and students on one or more of the lab’s four research themes: Talent Flows and Development, Nationalism and Racism, U.S.-Asia Relations, and Democratic Crisis and Reform. This cycle places particular emphasis on economic security, and one position is dedicated to research on the Philippines. Fellows contribute to the lab’s research and publications during their academic-year appointment.
