Description
The Research Council of Finland’s Academy Project Funding supports individual research teams and consortia across all research fields. It aims to fund internationally competitive, high-quality research with scientific and societal impact, facilitate groundbreaking initiatives, and create conditions for scientific breakthroughs. Projects should combine clear research questions with ambitious, scientifically sound methods, credible risk management, responsible implementation, and relevant cooperation.
The scheme also strengthens teams’ competence and capacity for renewal through skills development, researcher training, mentoring, and research environments that support creative, self-directed work. Funding primarily supports research team salaries and direct project costs, including cooperation and international mobility. Doctoral education is a particular priority, and applicants are encouraged to include doctoral candidates with clearly justified tasks, roles, and career development.
