Key Information: This competition funds a fellowship program administrator, not individual fellowship applicants.
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Human Resources, Outreach, Fellowships, and Internships Division (HR/OFI) seeks an organization to manage programmatic, financial, and administrative operations for the 2027 Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program. Established in 1992, the fellowship attracts outstanding students, particularly those with financial need, to Foreign Service Officer careers.
The administrator will support fellows through graduate studies, domestic internships in Washington, D.C., and overseas assignments at U.S. Embassies. Responsibilities include financial disbursements, housing and travel coordination, academic oversight, professional development, and assistance with examinations and clearances. The 32-month project is expected to begin around January 2027 and aims to prevent administrative or logistical barriers from delaying academic success or commissioning into Foreign Service generalist tracks.
