Description
The 21st Century Fund is a giving circle at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo comprising more than 350 member donors. Every other year, members award one $100,000 grant to a nonprofit through a member-driven review and voting process. The fund supports high-impact projects benefiting the eight-county Western New York region, with a strong preference for sustainable work requiring minimal future grant support.
Members consider all proposals, but favor projects with tangible, lasting results. Past awards have supported facilities, equipment, renovations, exhibit planning, and other capital investments. Selection considers an organization’s leadership, annual budget, operating history, and capacity to implement the project. Projects that help complete a larger effort or leverage additional funding can be compelling to the membership.
