The 2027 Tools Competition supports education technology that combines digital tools, big data, and learning science to address urgent learner needs. A program of Renaissance Philanthropy administered by The Learning Agency, it welcomes innovations from early-stage ideas to established platforms. Eligible technologies may include apps, software, algorithms, datasets, and other digital tools that support continuous data collection and can scale at minimal cost.
The competition’s four tracks address stronger K–12 teaching, more continuous and actionable K–12 assessment, postsecondary learning and work, and high-quality education datasets. Its goals include improving learner outcomes, advancing research at scale, supporting evidence-based product improvement, and building collaboration among developers, researchers, and educators. Proposals should demonstrate impact in real learning environments, with attention to safety, privacy, responsibility, and trust.
