Description
The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) awards the Earl S. Tupper three-year postdoctoral fellowship annually to an outstanding candidate in one of the research fields represented at the institute. The fellowship supports research on tropical organisms, environments, and their histories, based at STRI facilities in Panama. Proposals incorporating comparative research in other tropical countries will also be considered.
STRI strongly encourages applications in ecology, anthropology, paleontology, paleoecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation biology. Other encouraged disciplines include functional genomics, microbial ecology, sensory ecology, chemical ecology, animal behavior, neurobiology, soil sciences, and the physiology of tropical plants and animals. The program provides three years of stipend and research support for researchers who complete their Ph.D. studies before the fellowship begins.
