    Description

4Culture’s Heritage Projects program funds the identification, documentation, exhibition, creation, and interpretation of heritage and histories in King County, Washington. Heritage includes local and ethnic history, Native cultures, folklore and intangible cultural heritage, historic and archaeological resources, heritage field services, and stewardship of heritage spaces. The program supports work that makes history relevant through exhibits, publications, oral histories, research, digital projects, educational curricula, and other resources.

Projects may also include conferences, workshops, training, historic tours, field schools, skill demonstrations, and collaboration among heritage practitioners. The program supports opportunities for underrepresented populations to work firsthand with heritage resources, including communities of color, LGBTQIA+ communities, youth, people with disabilities, and gender-variant communities. Funded work must share heritage with King County residents and visitors through accessible public benefits.
