Description
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) administers the 604(b) Grants through its Water Quality Division. Under section 604(b) of the federal Clean Water Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency works with state agencies to fund water quality management planning. ADEQ awards grants each year for planning projects in applicants’ respective regions across Arizona.
Funded work has included watershed planning, studies of septic systems and their effects on water sources, an assessment of lake water quality problems, and the prioritization and conceptual design of green stormwater infrastructure. Past projects have also incorporated community outreach and education into water quality planning.
