Key Information: Applications must be submitted by publishers, not authors.
The Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS) supports the publication of individually authored books, edited volumes, and multiple-authored books in English that make a substantial scholarly contribution to Baltic Studies. The program prioritizes a single author’s first monograph, while also considering other scholarly books. Fiction is not eligible, and English translations of books first published in another language may be considered case by case.
The subvention focuses on the book’s significance in advancing Baltic Studies and the role publication support would play in the project. Publishers must explain the need for funding, its intended use, and its potential impact on the book’s list price. AABS awards two subventions each year, with applications evaluated by its Book Publication Subvention Committee.
