The Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS) offers Emerging Scholars Grants to support early-career researchers in any field of Baltic Studies. These project-based grants fund research needs such as travel, duplication, materials, equipment, and other specified expenses. The program emphasizes work of scholarly importance, particularly research that contributes to the development of Baltic Studies.
AABS administers the grants through its Grants Committee, which considers both the scholarly potential of the applicant and the quality and significance of the proposed work. Past recipients have used support for primary-source research and writing, including book manuscripts on Baltic German diplomats in Russian service and the theory and practice of non-territorial autonomy in Estonia.
