The AACAP Psychodynamic Faculty Initiative (PsyFI) Mentorship Award is designed to strengthen psychodynamic psychotherapy training within child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship programs through targeted faculty development. Awardees, under the guidance of an experienced PsyFI mentor, design and implement a psychodynamic training project tailored to their institution’s needs. The program features a one-day Project Planning Retreat at the AACAP Annual Meeting, ongoing mentorship, cohort check-ins, and concludes with a presentation of project outcomes to the AACAP Psychotherapy Committee. The initiative aims to build a national community of skilled psychodynamic teachers and leaders, foster innovative training projects, and expand the application of psychodynamic principles in child and adolescent psychiatry education.
