    Description

The AAFP Foundation’s Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM) sponsors an annual fellowship supporting research using its collections. Projects may address the history of general practice, family practice, or family medicine, including practitioners and their role in health and health care in the United States. The research must produce a durable work in a format chosen by the applicant, such as a manuscript, report, audio or video recording, oral history interviews, or artwork.

The fellowship aims to advance family medicine practice, education, research, and policy through historical understanding. It also encourages use of CHFM materials, increases awareness of the Center among historians, scholars, and educators, adds to knowledge of family medicine and related fields, and supports scholars interested in the specialty’s past and future.
