Description
The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) presents this annual award to recognize and further encourage the research and leadership achievements of women in immunology. Named after Rebecca C. Lancefield, the first woman to serve as AAI President, it honors one outstanding mid-career investigator. The award considers scientific accomplishments alongside service to immunology, including teaching, leadership, mentorship, administration, and advocacy.
The award combines a cash prize with support for participation in the AAI annual meeting. The recipient presents their research in an award lecture preceded by the award presentation and is invited to serve as a table leader at the Careers in Science Roundtables. These activities connect the recipient’s scientific achievements and career experience with the meeting’s research and career programming.
