Description
The Volunteer Service Award, sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), honors a neurologist working in private practice for volunteer service to patients, organizations, and/or the community. It recognizes the personal time a physician has invested in service rather than funding a research study or project.
The award takes a broad view of volunteer involvement. All areas of service are considered, with Habitat for Humanity and international work among the examples named by the program. Recognition centers on the physician’s volunteer contributions and personal commitment, with the recipient honored at the AAN Annual Meeting and in AAN member publications.
