Description
This opportunity supports up to two early-career, research-oriented AAPM members to join the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research’s Council of Early Career Investigators in Imaging (CECI²). It is sponsored by AAPM’s Science Council through the Education & Research Fund and administered by the Research Committee. The program combines year-long virtual programming with sponsored in-person participation in the Academy’s Medical Imaging Technology Showcase (MedTech), Congressional events, and NIH meetings in Washington, DC.
During the six to eight months before MedTech, participants engage in webinars, discussions, and workshops with academic chairs, NIH program staff, and industry and society partners. Topics include research advocacy, NIH funding, mock NIH study sessions, grant applications and resubmissions, and career development. The Academy’s broader goals are to recognize early-career achievements, encourage advocacy for research funding, and foster cross-institutional education and networking.
