Funder: Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences
Due Dates: November 1, 2026 (Annual application deadline)
Funding Amounts: $1,000 grant
Summary: Supports casting, molding, and/or 3D scanning and printing of commercially collected paleontological specimens for public education and research.
Key Information: At least one replica must be donated to a public museum, school, or university.
The David Kronen Casting and Molding Grant is administered by the Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS). It supports any interested party working on a commercially collected paleontological specimen to create replicas through casting, molding, and/or 3D scanning and printing. The resulting replicas must further public education and/or research, linking work on commercially collected specimens with educational and scientific programs.
The grant funds the practical work of replica production, including mold design and construction, scanning and printing, and the tools and materials needed to complete the process. Public use is central to the program: recipients must donate at least one replica to a public museum, school, or university. Awardees are also asked to document their finished products and identify the specific research or educational programs the replicas will support.
