Description
Each spring, the American Academy of Religion (AAR) awards travel grants to help members with financial need attend its November Annual Meeting. The grants support members who want to contribute to the meeting and benefit from its opportunities for scholarship and vocation, whether by presenting a paper, serving on a panel, or taking part in other scheduled activities.
The grants are competitive. The Annual Meeting Travel Grants Jury considers applicants’ planned contributions, the anticipated benefits of attendance, and their connection to AAR. Preference is given to applicants with consistent membership, past Annual Meeting attendance, and a history of contributions to AAR’s work. Applicants from underrepresented minorities receive special consideration.
