Description
The American Academy of Religion’s Dissertation Research Grants help doctoral candidates complete their degrees by offsetting dissertation research-related expenses. The program supports AAR student members working in any sub-discipline within religious studies, rather than limiting funding to a particular area of the field. Support is directed toward the research project and the work needed to bring the dissertation to completion.
The AAR Student Awards Jury evaluates the clarity and focus of the proposed research and the adequacy of the work plan, including its goals, objectives, and completion timeframe. AAR will make awards only if there is a sufficiently diverse and rich pool of applicants. The program also supports the visibility of religious studies scholarship through attributed use of portions of recipients’ final reports.
