Description
The American Academy of Religion (AAR) awards the Judith Plaskow Travel Grant annually to a student or independent scholar scheduled to present a paper at its November Annual Meeting. The paper must be centrally informed by feminist approaches to the study of religion, contribute to those approaches, or both. The grant supports the presentation of this scholarship at the meeting.
Donations honoring former AAR president Judith Plaskow fund the award. Her influential work in Jewish feminism and her legacy in feminist approaches to the study of religion also inform selection: when applications otherwise meet the criteria equally, the Annual Meeting Travel Grants Jury favors the paper most closely corresponding to the spirit of her work.
