AARP Foundation is the charitable affiliate of AARP. Its grantmaking supports local and national organizations working to expand economic opportunity, reduce barriers and strengthen financial resilience for older adults, particularly those with low incomes. The foundation draws on older adults’ experiences and insights from its direct-service programs to identify approaches that can improve the systems people aged 50 and over rely on.
Its three grantmaking priorities are quality employment, accessible benefits and inclusive markets. Projects may strengthen pathways to stable, fairly compensated work; help older adults obtain public benefits and relief; or improve access to financial products, housing and health care. The foundation invests in scalable systems change as well as targeted services that meet immediate needs. It also makes rapid-response grants to local organizations assisting older adults after natural disasters.
