Description
The AAS/AASF Fall Courses Award is offered by the Association for Academic Surgery and funded by the AAS Foundation. It supports course participation by residents, fellows, and faculty who represent underrepresented voices in surgery. Rather than funding a standalone research project, the award provides registration and travel support for an educational experience focused on research methods, academic career advancement, and grant writing.
The Fall Courses combine practical advice with interactive sessions where participants discuss ideas with academic surgical leaders and network with colleagues. The Fundamentals of Surgical Research Course covers research skills and pathways for surgeon scientists, while the Early Career Development Course addresses starting and advancing an academic career, building research programs, promotion, and professional development.
