The AAS/AASF Trainee Research Fellowship Awards provide early-career academic surgeons—specifically surgical residents and fellows—with $30,000 in research funding to support projects across a range of surgical disciplines. The fellowship aims to foster innovation and professional development by enabling recipients to dedicate focused time to research in basic science, translational, clinical outcomes, health services, education, or global surgery. Four awards are available for the 2027–2029 funding cycle.
