--- ## Description This prestigious award, funded by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), honors educators who have demonstrated outstanding, career-long achievements in neurologic education. The award places special emphasis on leadership, innovation, and scholarship, as well as significant contributions to the AAN and the broader medical education community. The recipient is expected to have fostered advanced learning environments, mentored others, and participated in AAN activities such as committee work or leadership programs. Both nominations and self-nominations are accepted, and the recipient will be invited to speak at the AAN Annual Meeting. --- ## Due Dates - October 2026 (anticipated/projected full application deadline) - October 2026 (anticipated/projected final deadline) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - $1,500 cash award - Framed certificate of recognition - One recipient selected annually --- ## Eligibility - Open to educators who are physicians, physician-scientists, or scientists (MD, DO, PhD). - Nominee must have at least 20 years of experience in neurologic teaching after completion of training. - Must be a current or past AAN member. - Significant contributions at national and regional levels in medical education are required, with demonstrated leadership, innovation, and scholarship. - Nominee’s activities should include substantial involvement with the AAN (e.g., committee/subcommittee service, leadership program participation). - Nominations and self-nominations are accepted. - Nominations should be inclusive regarding gender and underrepresented groups. - Posthumous nominations are not accepted. --- ## Application Process - Submit a nomination (self-nominations permitted). - Provide two letters of support from individuals other than the nominator; one must be from a former learner (medical student, neurology resident, or neurology fellow). - Submit the nominee’s curriculum vitae. - Applications are submitted through the AAN’s awards platform (see External Links). --- ## Additional Information - The award is supported by an endowment from the A.B.
