Description
The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) administers this lifetime achievement award to recognize educators with significant contributions to neurologic education at the local, regional, and national levels. It honors sustained educational achievement rather than supporting a new research project, with particular emphasis on national and regional contributions to medical education.
The award recognizes leadership, innovation, and scholarship, alongside significant educational service within the AAN. Its conception of medical education combines medical knowledge with effective teaching, communication, technological integration, mentorship, and ongoing learning and innovation. The award is funded by an endowment created through matching funds from the A.B. Baker Family Trust and Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
