--- ## Description This prestigious award honors educators who have demonstrated outstanding, career-long achievements in neurologic education at the local, regional, and national levels. The recipient is recognized for leadership, innovation, and scholarship in medical education, as well as substantial contributions to the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) through mentorship, teaching excellence, and active involvement in the organization. The award aims to celebrate those who have fostered advanced learning environments and have made a lasting impact on the field of neurology education. --- ## Due Dates - October 2026 (application close, anticipated/projected) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - One recipient is awarded $1,500 and a framed certificate of recognition. - Award is presented annually. --- ## Eligibility - Open to educators who are physicians, physician-scientists, or scientists (MD, DO, or PhD). - Minimum of 20 years of experience in neurologic teaching after completion of training. - Nominee must be a current or past member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). - Nominations and self-nominations are accepted. - Emphasis on national and regional contributions in medical education, with substantial involvement in AAN activities (e.g., committee participation, leadership roles). - Nominee must demonstrate leadership, innovation, and scholarship in medical education. - Nominations should reflect inclusivity regarding gender and underrepresented groups. - Posthumous nominations are not accepted. --- ## Application Process - Submit a nomination or self-nomination via the [AAN application portal](https://aan.secure-platform.com/a/solicitations/496/home) (when open). - Required materials: - Two letters of support from individuals other than the nominator. - One letter must be from a former learner (medical student, neurology resident, or neurology fellow). - Nominee’s curriculum vitae. - The recipient is expected to speak at the AAN Annual Meeting. --- ## Additional Information - Only one recipient is selected each year. - The award is funded by an endowment from the A.B.
