This is a highly competitive, lifetime achievement award for senior educators in neurology.

--- ## Description This prestigious award honors educators who have demonstrated significant, career-long achievements in neurologic education at local, regional, and national levels. It is intended to recognize individuals for leadership, innovation, and scholarship in medical education, especially for those with a substantial impact through teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, and involvement in the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). The recipient is expected to have contributed extensively to the AAN’s educational mission. --- ## Due Dates - October 2026 (applications close, anticipated/projected) - October 2026 (applications close, projected from previous cycles) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - $1,500 cash award - Framed certificate of recognition from the AAN - Only one recipient selected each year --- ## Eligibility - Nominee must be an educator (MD, DO, or PhD) in neurology or neuroscience. - Minimum of 20 years of experience in neurologic teaching after completion of training. - Must be a current AAN member. - Demonstrated leadership, innovation, and scholarship in medical education. - Significant contributions to the AAN’s educational mission (e.g., committee service, leadership roles, program participation). - Both nominations and self-nominations are accepted. - Nominations should reflect national and regional impact. - At least one letter of support must be from a former learner (medical student, neurology resident, or fellow). - Nominations should be inclusive regarding gender and underrepresented groups. - Posthumous nominations are not accepted. --- ## Application Process - Submit a nomination or self-nomination via the AAN award portal. - Required materials: - Two letters of support from individuals other than the nominator (one from a former learner). - Nominee’s curriculum vitae. - All applicants must have (or create) an AAN account to submit. - Recipient is expected to speak at the AAN Annual Meeting. --- ## Additional Information - Funded by an endowment from the A.B.
