Funding Amounts: $50,000 for one year, including indirect costs
Summary: Supports high-risk, high-impact CNS metastasis research to advance diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.
Key Information: Projects must address brain and CNS metastases from at least two distinct primary organ sites.
The American Brain Tumor Association administers this grant on behalf of the Metastatic Brain Tumor Collaborative (MBTC), a partnership of advocacy organizations representing cancers that metastasize to the brain. The program supports early-career faculty pursuing high-risk, high-impact research with the potential to change diagnostic or treatment paradigms for CNS metastasis care. It encourages innovative early scientific studies that can help investigators secure future funding.
Research may address any metastatic CNS tumor type, including leptomeningeal disease, and adult, pediatric, or both patient populations. Relevant areas include tumor biology, biomarkers, clinical research, imaging, drug delivery, novel therapeutics, prevention, epidemiology, genetics, immune involvement, and mechanisms of resistance. Investigators from sciences outside traditional biological fields are encouraged to apply.
