The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) Jack and Fay Netchin Medical Student Summer Fellowships provide an introductory laboratory research experience under scientist mentors. Named for Jack and Fay Netchin, the program aims to give medical students the skills and knowledge needed to pursue careers in neuro-oncology research. It is part of ABTA’s broader effort to advance understanding of the causes, effects, diagnosis, and treatment of brain tumors.
Projects may address any brain tumor type: benign or malignant, primary or metastatic, affecting pediatric or adult patients. Supported areas include biomarkers, etiology, brain tumor biology, clinical research, genetics, diagnosis, imaging, drug delivery, molecular/genetic epidemiology, novel therapeutics, and risk assessment. Projects must relate directly to brain tumor research.
