Funding Amounts: Up to $200,000 in direct costs over two years
Summary: Supports multidisciplinary, multi-institutional teams pursuing high-risk/high-impact brain tumor research that could transform diagnosis or treatment.
Key Information: Lead PI and Co-PI must hold full-time faculty or institution-confirmed equivalent positions at distinct nonprofit, nongovernmental institutions.
The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) Research Collaboration Grants promote team science by supporting collaborative research across institutions and disciplines. The program seeks high-risk/high-impact projects with the potential to change diagnostic or treatment paradigms for adult and pediatric brain tumor care. It supports early scientific studies that can help teams secure future funding and accelerate new approaches to understanding and treating brain tumors.
Projects may address any brain tumor type—benign or malignant, primary or metastatic—and pediatric, adult, or both populations. Multidisciplinary approaches may combine basic, translational, clinical, and epidemiological research. Investigators from outside traditional biological sciences are encouraged to apply. Research areas include biomarkers, tumor biology, clinical research, diagnosis, drug delivery, etiology, genetics, imaging, molecular/genetic epidemiology, novel therapeutics, and risk assessment.
