Summary: Recognizes outstanding scientific abstract or poster presentations by early career surgeons at major international cardiothoracic meetings.
The Academic Excellence Award, administered by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) Foundation, honors early career surgeons for exceptional scientific presentations at the annual meetings of key affiliate organizations: the Asian Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS), European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS), and European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS). The award is presented onsite at each organization's annual meeting to recognize academic or scientific excellence in abstract or poster presentations. A single recipient is selected for each partner meeting through a review committee and is formally acknowledged during a dedicated awards ceremony.
