Academic Grants - Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association support researchers, care personnel, and clinician-scientists through research, clinical care, and training to advance rare neuroimmune disorder diagnosis and treatment.
Funder: Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association
Due Dates: Letters of Intent: Not currently accepted
Funding Amounts: Pilot/Seed: $20,000–$75,000 for one year | Clinical Support Personnel: up to $50,000 for one year | Fellowship: up to two years
Summary: Supports research, clinical care personnel, and clinician-scientist training to advance understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of rare neuroimmune disorders.
Key Information: Funded institutions must maintain an open practice providing acute, convalescent, and long-term care for patients with the targeted disorders.
The Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association (SRNA) supports promising research and clinical care addressing Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM), MOG Antibody Disease (MOGAD), Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD), Optic Neuritis (ON), and Transverse Myelitis (TM). Its goal is to better understand these disorders’ causes and advance early diagnosis, treatment, and cure.
The program offers three forms of support: pilot research funding to generate preliminary data for subsequent federal and foundation applications, personnel funding for dedicated clinical care resources, and post-residency clinician-scientist training. The fellowship combines clinical care and research using current scientific tools, preparing clinicians for combined clinical/research careers and leadership of research programs in their departments. SRNA emphasizes innovation, scientific rigor, and sharing research findings.
