    Description

The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Collaborative Research Awards Program supports two-year research projects while developing early-career investigators through mentorship and collaboration across academic institutions. Its goal is to improve the health and well-being of all children, particularly those most vulnerable. The program values diversity in team members’ lived experiences and institutional perspectives, and strongly prioritizes research addressing underserved or vulnerable populations or health disparities.

The sole current funding path is Primary Care Strategies for the Promotion of Early Literacy and Early Childhood Development, supported by Reach Out and Read. It funds primary care–based interventions involving Reach Out and Read and related programs. Teams must demonstrate genuine collaboration across sites in developing, implementing, and disseminating research, with work aligned with both organizations’ missions.
