Description
The Allen Foundation funds projects that benefit programs for human nutrition in health, education, training, and research. Its Academic Research application is for research within that focus. The foundation is based in Midland, Michigan, and considers applications twice a year.
The foundation’s 2023 annual report describes nutrition research aimed at fighting malnutrition in the United States and abroad. It cites an OpenBiome project seeking to increase positive gut bacteria in malnourished infants as one example of work it funded. Recipients submit progress reports and a financial accounting of grant expenditures.
