Description
Mitacs Accelerate supports research-based internships involving post-secondary students, postdoctoral fellows, recent graduates, academic supervisors, and partner organizations. Interns work with academic and non-academic collaborators to address research challenges, transfer knowledge, develop solutions, explore markets, or commercialize research breakthroughs. Projects begin with four- or six-month internship units and can scale into longer collaborations.
The program helps organizations expand research and development while giving interns applied research experience and professional networks. Research must generate new knowledge relevant to both the partner and the academic community, rather than consist of consulting or purely development-based work. Proposals should demonstrate meaningful partner involvement, strong supervision, feasible methods, and tangible benefits to the partner organization and Canada.
