Summary: Supports development and optimization of innovative therapies for frontotemporal degeneration, focusing on lead compound refinement and in vivo testing.
This program, jointly offered by The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) and the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), aims to accelerate drug discovery for frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). The initiative funds the development and optimization of small molecule and biologic therapies, such as antibodies, oligonucleotides, peptides, and gene therapies. Key priorities include lead optimization of novel disease-modifying compounds and in vivo testing of new or repurposed drug candidates in relevant animal models to assess pharmacokinetics, target engagement, efficacy, and preliminary tolerability. The program does not support target identification, assay development, or high-throughput screening.
