Description
The Accessibility Fund is a partnership between the Institute of Physics (IOP), the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), and the Physics Benevolent Fund. It helps members attend physics-related conferences, meetings and other career-developing events when a disability or primary responsibility for caring for a family member creates additional costs.
Support can cover assistive devices and equipment; extended childminder or care-worker hours; babysitting; travel for friends or relatives caring for dependants; after-school activities, clubs or play schemes; and medical, nursing or respite care. The examples are not exhaustive, and requests are assessed on their own merits. The fund does not cover support that an employer, education provider, institution, venue or event organiser is responsible for providing to enable reasonable access.
