    Description

Accessibility Modification Grants support accessibility improvements, including work to bring municipally owned buildings and libraries into compliance with state and federal accessibility requirements. The Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development offers these grants through the Vermont Community Development Program (VCDP), which administers Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

VCDP provides competitive financial and technical assistance to help communities identify and address local needs. Accessibility modifications are one part of its broader work in housing, economic development, public facilities, and public services. Across the federal CDBG program, 70 percent of funds must primarily benefit people with low and moderate incomes. Assistance may also address “Slums and Blight” or “Urgent Need” where VCDP determines that federal qualifications are met.
