Funding Amounts: $200,000–$300,000 for 12–24 months
Summary: Funds evaluated pathway programs that prepare underrepresented college students and graduates for law school admission and success.
Key Information: Projects must serve pre-law participants who have not been admitted to or enrolled in law school.
AccessLex Institute’s Diversity Pathway Intervention Grant Program supports programs and initiatives helping college students and graduates from historically underrepresented racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic backgrounds enter law school and the legal profession. Its central goal is to build knowledge about effective methods for increasing these students’ enrollment and success. The program seeks meaningful content and experiences combined with holistic support, particularly through collaborative approaches.
Evaluation is integral to funded work. Programs must connect their components to clear goals and measurable objectives, use valid data collection and analytical methods, and track participants beyond the intervention itself—for example, through the end of an admission cycle. Projects must document relevant outcomes, including law school admission outcomes, to assess effectiveness.
