AccessLex Institute’s Directed Grant Program supports research and projects highly aligned with the Institute’s most pressing research priorities and strategic goals. Supported projects tend to have the potential to leverage other funding sources for greater impact. The program uses direct or targeted requests for proposals from a small group of organizations rather than an open application process.
AccessLex’s grantmaking focuses on broadening access to legal education, particularly for historically underrepresented racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, and increasing bar passage among students and graduates most at risk of not passing. The Directed Intervention application identifies topical areas including student academic and bar exam success, data relevant to legal education, and access and diversity in legal education or the profession. Other topical areas may also be identified.
