The Association of Clinical Pathologists (ACP) Research Fund Award supports members undertaking research-based activities in laboratory medicine and pathology, particularly those early in their careers. It funds educational small research projects and work undertaken toward postgraduate qualifications such as an MSc, MMedSci or PhD. Support can contribute to living expenses and project costs, including bench fees and consumables, with postgraduate degree research receiving priority.
Projects may take place inside or outside the laboratory: research exploring pathology education is eligible for consideration. The work must relate to pathology, rather than simply being laboratory-based. Educational content is central to funding decisions; supervisors remain responsible for other aspects of postgraduate projects. The Education Secretary and Education Committee oversee allocation, with relevant specialty committees contributing peer review.
