Description
The Acres for America Program, a partnership between the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and Walmart, is the nation’s leading public-private land conservation initiative. Established in 2005, the program provides funding for landscape-scale conservation projects that permanently protect critical habitats for fish, wildlife, and plants through voluntary land acquisitions and perpetual conservation easements. The program also emphasizes connectivity of protected lands, restoration of urban habitats, public access to natural areas, and benefits to local economies. Over 2.2 million acres have been protected nationwide through over 130 projects.
