Description
Established in 1993 by the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, this award recognizes significant accomplishments by individuals who stimulate or foster women’s interest in chemistry and encourage careers in the chemical sciences and engineering. It also recognizes work that generates a broader appreciation of chemistry as the central science.
The Foundation funds the program, while the American Chemical Society (ACS) administers it and selects the awardee. Alongside an individual cash award and certificate, the program provides a grant to an institution designated by the recipient to strengthen activities that meet the award’s objectives. The award therefore combines recognition of an individual’s contributions with support for activities advancing women’s professional development.
