Description
The ACS Award in Industrial Chemistry recognizes outstanding contributions to chemical research conducted in an industrial context. Administered by the American Chemical Society and sponsored by the ACS Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, it honors significant creative contributions in any field of chemical, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical, or biochemical research. This is an achievement award rather than funding for a proposed research project.
The award is presented biennially in even-numbered years, with the current nomination cycle leading to recognition in 2028. Selection considers alignment with the award’s purpose, scientific impact, societal benefit, innovation, and service to the scientific community and ACS goals. Akzo Chemicals, Inc. established the award in 1989; the Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry became its sponsor in 2016.
