--- ## Description The ACS Award in Polymer Chemistry honors individuals for exceptional, pioneering research in polymer chemistry. The award specifically recognizes fundamental contributions to synthetic methods for unique polymeric materials or significant discoveries in polymer physical chemistry that have advanced the understanding of complex macromolecular behavior. The recipient’s body of work should demonstrate a global impact on the development and application of advanced polymeric systems and materials. The award is supported by the ExxonMobil Chemical Company and includes a cash prize, travel reimbursement, and a certificate. --- ## Due Dates - **Nomination period:** July 1, 2024 – November 1, 2024 - **Nomination deadline:** November 1, 2024 (annual deadline) - Winners are typically announced the following August, with the award presented at a subsequent ACS meeting. --- ## Funding Amount - **Award:** $5,000 cash prize - **Additional support:** Up to $1,000 reimbursed for travel expenses to the award presentation meeting - **Other:** Certificate of recognition --- ## Eligibility - **Nominees:** Open to individuals in academia, industry, or other professional settings, including international candidates. - Nominees must have demonstrated pioneering research in: - Synthetic methods for unique polymeric materials, and/or - Physical chemistry of polymers leading to significant scientific advancements. - The award is based on the impact of the nominee’s body of work in polymer chemistry on global needs. - No restrictions based on race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, disability status, or educational background. - **Membership:** ACS membership is not required for nominators or nominees for this award. - **Previous awardees:** Recipients of widely recognized scientific awards are generally ineligible unless the nomination is for new or significantly different work.
