--- ## Description The ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship is designed to encourage and support recent graduates and graduate students with limited professional experience who aim to become secondary (high school) chemistry teachers. Recipients must be pursuing a master's degree in education or obtaining certification as a chemistry or science teacher. The scholarship provides annual stipends to help cover educational expenses and offers professional guidance and mentoring throughout a three-year teaching commitment. This program is part of the ACS-Hach suite of initiatives to strengthen the pipeline of qualified high school chemistry educators. --- ## Due Dates - May 1, 2026: Full application submission deadline --- ## Funding Amount - Up to $6,000 per year for full-time study, or up to $3,000 per year for part-time study - Renewable for up to three years (maximum total: $18,000 for full-time, $9,000 for part-time) - Funds may be used for tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses - Stipends are distributed in two equal installments per academic year --- ## Eligibility Applicants must: - Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry or a chemistry-related discipline (see list below) - Have less than one year of work experience outside of obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees - Demonstrate an interest and commitment to becoming a secondary (high school) educator - Be accepted into a master's program in education or a teacher certification program in the U.S. - Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident **Eligible Chemistry-Related Disciplines include:** - Agricultural Chemistry - Biochemistry - Ceramic Science/Chemistry/Technology - Chemical Engineering/Technology - Environmental Science/Engineering (chemistry-based) - Forensic Science/Chemistry - Food Science (not Nutrition) - Industrial Chemistry - Materials Science or Petroleum Engineering - Nanotechnology/Nanoscience - Paper and Pulp Technology - Toxicology *Applicants with more than one year of work experience should consider the [ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship](https://www.acs.org/funding/scholarships-fellowships/acs-hach-second-career-teacher-scholarship.html).* --- ## Application Process 1. **Create an account** on the ACS scholarship portal ([Start Application](https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=acs)). 2. Select “2026 ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship.” 3. Complete the Letter of Intent (LOI) to verify eligibility. ACS staff will review and notify applicants within one business day. 4. Once approved, complete the full application, including: - Preferred contact information (two email addresses) - One-page resume or CV - Transcripts from all degree-granting institutions - Admittance letter to the education program - Personal narrative (four sections: Why Teach Chemistry, Personal Experience, Professional Experience, Why This Scholarship) 5. All materials must be submitted electronically by May 1, 2026. 6. Applicants will receive a confirmation email within 3 business days of submission. 7.
