--- ## Description The ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship is designed to support recent graduates and graduate students with limited work experience who are interested in becoming secondary (high school) chemistry teachers. The scholarship provides financial support in the form of stipends to be used for tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses while pursuing a master's degree in education or teacher certification in chemistry or science. In addition to financial support, recipients receive mentoring throughout a three-year teaching commitment. The program is part of the broader ACS-Hach suite of programs supporting chemistry educators at various career stages. --- ## Due Dates - May 1, 2026: Full application submission deadline Applications open February 1, 2026, and must be submitted by May 1, 2026 for consideration for the 2026–2027 academic year. --- ## Funding Amount - Up to $6,000 per year for full-time study - Up to $3,000 per year for part-time study - Scholarships are renewable for up to three years - Stipends are distributed in equal installments twice per academic year - Funds may be used for tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses - Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively to expenses incurred before award --- ## Eligibility Applicants must: - Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry or a chemistry-related discipline (see below for eligible fields) - Have less than one year of work experience outside of obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees - Demonstrate an interest and commitment to becoming a secondary (high school) educator - Be accepted into a master's program in education or a teacher certification program - Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident ### Eligible Chemistry-Related Disciplines - Agricultural Chemistry - Biochemistry - Ceramic Science/Chemistry/Technology - Chemical Engineering - Chemical Technology - Environmental Science/Engineering (chemistry-based) - Forensic Science/Chemistry - Food Science (not Nutrition) - Industrial Chemistry - Materials Science or Petroleum Engineering - Nanotechnology or Nanoscience - Paper and Pulp Technology - Toxicology *Applicants with more than one year of work experience should consider the [ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship](https://www.acs.org/funding/scholarships-fellowships/acs-hach-second-career-teacher-scholarship.html).* --- ## Application Process 1. [Create an account](https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=acs) on the ACS application portal. 2. Select "2026 ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship." 3. Complete the Letter of Intent (LOI); ACS staff will review and notify you of eligibility within one business day. 4. Complete and submit the full application form, including: - Preferred contact information (two email addresses) - One-page resume or CV - Transcripts from all degree/certification institutions - Admittance letter from your education/certification program - Personal narrative addressing four prompts (see [application instructions](https://www.acs.org/funding/scholarships-fellowships/acs-hach-post-baccalaureate-teacher-scholarship/apply.html) for details) 5. All materials must be submitted electronically by May 1, 2026. 6. Only submitted applications (not drafts) will be considered; confirmation will be sent within three business days of submission.
