Description
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction administers separate grants to plan and operate recovery high schools. A recovery high school serves students recovering from a substance use disorder or a mental health disorder that coexists with a substance use disorder. It operates only high school grades and awards credits toward its own diploma or credits that transfer toward a school district diploma.
Planning grants support work to establish a school, including program, curriculum, and mental health services planning. Operational grants support schools already serving students, with evidence-based programming that includes peer-to-peer suicide prevention, smaller classes, and self-care planning.
