Description
The Idaho Humanities Council’s Action Grant supports planning and delivery of programs that draw on history, culture, literature, and the humanities to ignite public conversation. The program aims to explore the human experience, support Idaho’s cultural organizations statewide, and connect Idahoans through a variety of topics. IHC’s current target audience is the out-of-school adult public.
Supported activities include reading and discussion programs, exhibits, workshops, conferences, media and digital projects, local or regional history projects, oral histories, panel discussions, lectures, book festivals, and planning for humanities programs. Humanities engagement emphasizes asking questions, interpretation, reflection, and critical thinking. Research, consulting, and interpretation of artwork can qualify, but creating or producing art cannot receive IHC funding. Applicants with ideas outside the listed examples are encouraged to discuss them with IHC.
